my boyfriend has add.is it common to have relationship problems? sometimes i feel like things are going well and other times i feel as though i am intruding in his life.
i really care about him and do not know what to do.he also is on no medication for this problem.HE will say things like i want you to be with me when i pick things out for my house and then will blow me off to be with friends
I wonder if that's a guy thing. My boyfriend will "forget" about me, and go off and do things or change his mind without telling me, when I had assumed we'd be doing it together. My relationship, right now, is on the verge of ending.. And that's one of the problems. We've been dating for two years and he STILL does this.
It may also be part of ADD, he has trouble concentrating and does things on impulse -- I have a friend who has ADHD, and he's off the wall. I know ADHD and ADD are different, but that could explain some things.
Why isn't he on medication?

medication isnt always the best for ADD as the side effects may not be worth it, especially if thereis no hyperactivity involved.
Many people with ADD seem to find fishoil supplements helpful (or flaxseed oil if fishoil intolerance)
My son has also used Gingko Biloba herb and it really seems to help him with focus and attention
I do agree with AJG that it may also be part of the "guy thing" (sorry guys but you do seem to like more of your "space" than us gals do sometimes)
but
it may also be that his own struggles with ADD make some activities hard...eg going shopping with you to pick things out for your house would involve many "which do u like best" or other choices.
sometimes that can be kinda stressful for someone with ADD. My son really doesnt like too many "options" and hated multiple choice exams for that reason

I do think that medication can help him. But I also agree that sometimes men are just that way, as well.
Can you talk to him and explain how you are feeling and what you are worrying about?
