What is wrong with me? Almost everything makes me mad. Everything gets on my nerves. I feel very overwhelmed and anxious a majority of the time. I have 2 children and a live in boyfriend. It's very hard for me to even get up and do normal everyday things. Sound or too much of it really aggrivates me. I would rather just be alone. I am sooooooo sick of being angry!!!!!!

How long have you had this problem and can you think of any reason you're feeling this way? Are you sleeping well? You could try doing deep breathing exercises - it really does help. In addition it's important that you set aside a little 'me time' for your self where you can relax. Also make sure you're eating healthy and exercising. What do you think is making you anxious? Speak with your doctor if the self help techniques don't work. I hope you feel better.

I have always since i can remember have been a little short tempered. I don't sleep well at all, i toss and turn all night. I am currently taking Zoloft and Ativan for anxiety. The doctor put me on a medication for bipolar disorder but i don't think thats the problem. I have no patience for anything.

Hi Jay,
One thing you may want to do is buy a book on anger management. If it's really destructive in your life, then you should consider visiting a therapist, or even joining an anger management group in your area.
Giving advice on anger isn't something I'm completely familiar with, since I usually don't get that angry in situations. On top of that, there are different ways to approach management depending on the nature of your symptoms and experience.
The first thing you can do is a little reflection on the way anger affects your life. Does it make things settle or make things worse? Anger is like a dirty bandaid: it covers up the problem but in the end, your wound gets infected and becomes worse and worse.
Second, you must start seeing the difference between YOU and YOUR ANGER. When things are heated, there's no difference. You BECOME your anger and let it "sing" through you. You become a slave to it.
When you practice WATCHING your response, you start to see how it affects you, makes you tense, and makes you mad. When you start to see it, you see the difference between YOU and YOUR ANGER. Then you create a choice.
You can choose to let it control you, or you can choose to use it as information. "Okay, I'm angry. Why am I so angry?" You can consider the situation in its entirety and decide what the correct thing to do it. The correct thing will always bring more peace into your life, rather than more chaos. Sometimes you will choose to talk, to take a walk, or to even apologize and take responsibility for something.
By practicing this, you can start to build peace in your heart and diffuse situations that are causing you to be upset. You can also free yourself to look deeper inside to figure out what is at the root of your anger which will give you more freedom to decide how to react.
Take a week and practice and let us know how it goes. You can start a new post with the update. Okay?
