i am suffering from GAD , but i am bit confuse
ed whether i am having panic attack or OCD ,
as i am having symptoms similar to both , ple
ase suggest me some online self help book , i
i am strictly against medication , i am curre
ntly on meditation it proven very helpful .
Panic attacks don't generally cause repetitive movements and thoughts are often scattered and frenzied.
I think meditation is a good skill to have for either disorder. Make sure you learn to control your breathing, as most people tend to hold their breath when they become anxious, thus making it worse.
Why are you against medication? A healthy diet will help also, though, without medication (cutting out all caffeine etc.)
Take care

Hi there aamirhussain,
Jean is dead-on, as always. :) Is it possible that you do panic when the OCD happens?
Meditation indeed is a good resource to use. It is a bit hard to start at first, but once you get used to it, it is beneficial.
I use it myself, and it does work :)
Best,
Clyde

Hi aamirhussain,
If I can add to the above comments of meditation.
Meditation can help you... BUT, be aware that as it gets you quieter on the inside, it begins loosening up and releasing emotional debris. That is a very good thing, it will teach you how to get quiet, but it can also be a cause for additional anxiety at times.
There is also an article that I have found about Kundalini Yoga helping people with OCD. I can't find it to give you, but if you google kundalini and yoga, I'm sure you can find it. The article made it appear there were amazing results for people who did this practice.
I personally found a program that made a big difference for me. It didn't go into meditation, however it did cover every other lifestyle and mindset piece needed to actually heal OCD. The author did talk about anxiety and everything that is commonly bundled along with OCD, will get better following his program.
I personally got a lot of insights on understanding my OCD, and what I need to actually do, to begin feeling better.
I'm against meds myself. I know drjean asked why you were against them. I saw my brother get really out of control with meds, and then not being able to find professionals to help him. We did eventually find a very good psychiatrist for him, but the biggest help for him came when he started meditating, getting involved at church, running, eating extremely healthy, etc. As a result of my brother, I am in favor of anything that can help someone without meds - or atleast give different options to being medicated indefinitely.
The website I got good results from was www.obsessive-compulsive-disorder-help.com I even asked the author questions as I went along in the program and he was very encouraging.
