All my life I've had this thing and now I'm 17 and it's getting worse. It's hard to explain but I just can't handle points or corners. I know it sounds ridiculous and I'm a little embarassed by it. At restaurants I have to bend my straw down into the cup so I can't see it because it makes me anxious and sometimes even a little nauseated. I can't handle it when someone sitting in front of me in school has a jacket with the points of the collar sticking up. I just feel so sick and panicked. I always have to fold down the corners of my pillows before I can get to sleep and I can't handle spots on my windshield. If one of them is pointy I have to pull over and wipe it off but even after I do that I can still "feel" it in my eyes. Is this OCD and if it is can medication really help?

Hey clumsy,

It's impossible for anyone to diagnose you over the internet. Even if we were professionals.

What your describing may be OCD and it might not. What ever is going on with you, you will need see a mental health professional to work out exactly what is going on for you and the best way to treat it.

It's important that you understand medication isn't the only answer. You will also need to engage some therapy with a psychologist. Cognitive Behavioral Therapies have really good results for a range of problems including OCD.

Are your parents helping you with this?. Can you speak to them and ask them to help you get to your doctor so that you get some help.

Hi Clumsy,

I agree with Fpsy. You shouldn't try to diagnose yourself, it's best to go to the doctor. It does sound like OCD. I have even heard of someone else with the exact same dislike of points and corners. Like the 1st post said there are effective results with cognitive behavioral therapies. Don't be embarassed to admit it to the doctor. The sooner you get treatment the sooner you'll get better. Good luck.
