What causes lip biting?

I've done it since elementary school.

I bite my lips, until the skin is rough/raised, then rub them together.

Is it just a nervous tic that everyone does?

It doesn't really bother me, other than it looking weird. I don't have excessive nervous tics. The only nervous tips are the lip biting, some hand washing (not a ridiculous amount), popping my fingers, and repositioning the rings on my fingers (they're a little big,, so I recenter them). I didn't notice I did the ring thing until someone pointed it out. Either way, none of it is that excessive, but if I can easily stop from understanding the cause, that would probably be good.

Hi

it can be a nervous tic and may also be related to OCD. There is a B vitamin called INOSITOL that can often help bring mild OCD under control

It could, and does sound like either a nervous tic or something related to OCD.

Does it bother you at all, if not, I would just consider it as a tic, but if it ends up bothering you, I would possibly seek help for OCD.

Best,

Clyde
