I have been in and out of the mental health system for 10 years i have also tried many diferent types of therapy eg cognitive group recovery i did have a look at a social services reprot 5 years ago in which a psychiatrist said i had a manipulative personality disorder towards self harm' but when i asked said psychiatrist about this he said i was to young to go down such a route as i still have time to correct the problem. Its five years on and still i am in and out of the system. I have this time gone to the system myself by contacting my gp and actually asking to be checked for bi polar dissorder because the past has not helped me and despite the mess that i am writing right now i am actually quite intelligent and have often thought to myself that i am mirroring other peoples problems god i wish i could just stay on track and not keep darting off in different directions because this must read like really inconsistent i need help but i just dont seem to be getting it guess am looking for a friend who will stay with me past the 8 week period which is what the mental health system aim at my e mail is dianeedge@hotmail .co.uk

Hi Mouldme24,

since we're not therapists or doctors here, we can't really help to much - but we can offer moral support. I realize this must be very tough for you and you've been through alot. My brother(now passed) had manic depression for almost 30 yrs. and it was difficult for him and the family. He was also very intelligent and had a genius IQ. I mentioned before that I think many people who have mental illness are very intelligent people.

Try to be patient and be kind to yourself with eating well, exercising and getting enough rest. I hope that you will get the help you need and get stabilized. You might also try going on the psychecentral forums or maybe you already have - they can offer support there as well. All the best. :) Hugs

Hi MoldMe,

It sucks that you've been in and out of the mental health system like that. I can only imagine how exhausting and disorienting that must be. It's really a shame how disorganized and money-driven, rather than rehab-driven our system has become.

I don't know if you're bipolar. You haven't listen any symptoms of it. You haven't really listed any symptoms of anything. Even if you did, this isn't the place for a REAL diagnosis, and I'm not a diagnostician.

A good place to go with these questions is your doctor. You can also take some screening tests to start you off, which is very short and not the same thing as a real diagnosis: http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/bipolarquiz.htm .

Finally, if you need some more support, you can sign onto http://www.PsychCentral.com or just continue to post here. What's going on with you, besides wondering about your diagnosis? What area of your life needs improvement?

The http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/bipolarquiz.htm quiz is indeed a good indicator.

I would do that quiz, and then take it to a doctor to show them the results.

Also, as Edahn said, joining Psychcentral wouldnt be such a bad idea.

Best,

Clyde
