My 24 year old son is diagnosed axis 1 bipolar, ADHD, anxiety. Wondering about dx as he continues to be irrational when it comes to criminal behavior, such as driving without license, possession of marijuana, anger over resultant mandated halfway house and rules and judge mandates. Is this bipolar or something else? He lies continually and will state he is a compulsive liar, usually to cover and have his way. Judge feels he is addict, but our son says no. I think he does these things, because he has rationalized them in his mind to be OK and therefore, even though the law says not, he does them. He will be in violation of probation if he does not go to halfway house and comply, but he does not think it is fair for him to have to go, even though it is mandated and he is fighting with his counselor.

He does sound like an addict. Going to the halfway house may be part of what he needs to get better.
Bipolar could be part of it--how are his moods? Do they swing from happiness to sadness? Do they swing fastly?
I think a lot of his not wanting to go to the counselor is mainly because he is worried about changing his behavior.
