I have had several disappointments this past week seeking employment, and since I am 65 and do not have a job I am very depressed. I do not seem to have the energy to do anything nor do I feel capable of trying right now. I have been trying to get some exercise and social contact, but this is proving difficult also. I just want to know if this is a normal reaction to several negative events last week. I would appreciate comments from you and possible suggestions for trying to get out of this.

Yes it's natural to be disappointed when you have these kind of setbacks. The economy is very bad and even young educated people are having a tough time. You just have to keep trying because you never know when a good possibility will happen. What kind of job are you looking for?
That's good you're trying to cheer yourself up with exercise and socializing. Even just going for brisks walks several times a week will help. Since you've been alive for 65 years, I'm sure you know the pattern and how things will get better. You could probably teach us a few things LOL. Life has it's up and downs. I hope things takes a positive turn for you very soon. Best of luck, Bella

I know it can be hard and even though i'm only 16, I can see how at the gae of 65 it would be very difficult to get out there and talk and look for a job (if it is in your interest to get one). You know it has been proven that taking walks (now since the leaves are so pretty) elevate mood as well aas excersise so even though right now it may not seem to help much yet, just give it some time. Have you tried a good hooby such as art or music or something? and also yes it is normal to have that kind of reaction to bad things happening...good always happens along with bad things in life, thats just the way life is. there will be good and bad so I hope things start going better for you soon. If you dont feel better please see a therapist, they can help believe me.

I dont see how you got bipolar out of this, unless you have mania as well, but I am sorry to hear about what things have been happening.
I like the idea that you are trying to seek help by walking and being around others.
What do you normally do when you feel bad?
You may need to seek help with a therapist if it continues and gets worse.
