Diagnosed bipolar 1998 - only 1 major manic episode (still had insight). Prescribed Lithium which I have been on constantly apart from a break in 2003 when I became pregnant. No major adverse effects. Mood always depressed every 2 to 4 months lasting up to 2 months. Have had anti deps (CITALOPRAM) more recently LAMOTRIGINE to reduce depressive episodes. Now I have the choice of LITHIUM plus more LAMOT or LITHIUM LAMOT + ANTIDEP or LITHIUM plus QUETIAPINE - its up to me!!. I would like to stop lithium but not sure of options also concerned about weight gain.

Hi,
I think advice about medications should be left up to your doctor and pharmasist. Sorry I couldn't help you more. Take care.
