I posted the other day about me have really weird symptoms. I found out that I could be Bipolar. Any test I have taken has said there is a high chance of me being Bipolar. I realise I may just be paranoid about it, but it is a big coincidence that I have all of the symptoms. I was wondering what should I do? I would straight out ask my parents but if I think something is wrong with me they just dismiss it and say I am just paranoid. I am worried and I have NO IDEA what to do. Thanks to anyone who can help. I really appreciate it.

Hi,

yes, I remember you from the other day. You said you were 12yrs. old. I think you need to sit down with your parents and tell them how you're feeling. In the other post you talked about suicide and it's very important to tell them about that. Tell them that you want to see your family doctor. You also need to talk to your school guidance couselor and tell him/her exactly how you feel.

One thing you can't do is diagnose yourself based upon what you read on the internet. Only a skilled psycologist or psychiatrist can accurately diagnose someone with bi-polar.

Most teenagers I know have a wide range of emotions that go from crying to feeling happy the next. It's hard being a teen and it's normal to be confused about things.

I think you need to stop worrying and diagnosing yourself. Ask your parents to make an appointment today with the doctor. Speak to your teacher, counselor and principal also. If your feelings ever become really bad then call that emergency number that you got in your last question. Try to relax and stop assuming that you already know what's wrong with you. Make your parents listen and go see the professionals - okay? Best of luck and think smart.

I understand that you are scared and anxious about what has been happening to you with your emotions and feelings and thoughts.

If you found a self assessment tool on line it is just a guideline and not a definite diagnosis. As the other posters have mentioned, a diagnosis of any mental health problems should be done by a professional.

What you are experiencing could be a range of things that are not linked to a serious disorder like Bipolar. Even if your are right, it's not the end of the world. Most people can learn to manage their condition with support and help so that is doesn't interfere with their lives too much.

Can you speak to your school counselor they are trained to deal with the issues that your worried about. Whatever you tell them is between you and the counselor unless they feel that you are going to hurt yourself or some one else. If you need support in getting your parents to understand some issues about you, then they can help you with that too.

I honestly think that if you were Bipolar then you would be behaving in extreme ways that your parents would not be able to ignore and they would be worried about you and looking for help.

Its true that only a professional can completely diagnose you with this.

The tools online, as Fpsy said, are just basically a guideline, but not a real certainty.

You must talk to your parents or the school counselor or whomever, so you will know for sure.

Best,

Clyde
