I definitely would agree with your doctor - while mood swings can be normal, having them so drastically and having times you don't remember can be a potential mental disorder. I know it can be scary to go through some of these tests just based on not knowing what to expect, but some things are more upsetting if you don't know what you are dealing with.
I think it is good you were able to talk to your doctor about this and that he/she is willing to look into the situation - you just have to let them do their job and find out what is going on.
I wish you the best of luck

It sounds a little bit like Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly Multiple Personality Disorder) but I would hesitate to diagnose you with that because 1) I am not a therapist 2) this is the internet and I have no real contact 3) you've already seen a doctor who has provided you with alternative diagnoses.
What I would do if I were you is go find a free clinic that offers cheap psychological or psychiatric services. I'm sure there's one in your area.
Here's a website that links to some free clinics, organized by state. Hopefully you can find something here. If not, you can contact another party (maybe a crisis line?) to get more information about clinics in your area.
Psych Central Answers is a place where people can ask and answer questions about mental health issues and relationships in a safe and supportive environment.

It sounds like DID to me. You have to discuss this with your doctor more. The cost is well worth it later on.
