I am currently seeing A psychiatrist Privately (whom bulk bills) I have been seeing him since 2005 the thing is he seems to be arrogant by refusing to communicate with any one and I only see him for about 10-15 minutes every 6 weeks. I am currently Diagnosed with Panic disorder with agoraphobia, PTSD, Asperger's Syndrome, Bipolar 2, mixed anxiety disorder and also issues with low self esteem. I am also seeing A college clinical psychologist (once every 1 to 2 weeks for an hour day to day issues as well as study issues) A bulk billing private clinical Psychologist (Once every 3weeks for an hour), as well as a caseworker whom used to work in mental health, and I also see a G.P for an hour about once every 2 weeks to keep an eye on my mental health.

My problem is there is no communication between my psychiatrist and everyone else unless my caseworker come with me to the appointment where everyone else will communicate with each other and also I am unable to open up to the psychiatrist but I seem to be able to open up to my other supports.

My medications still hasn't been worked out as nothing seems to work according to my psychiatrist and my moods seem to be affecting my studies to the point that I had to repeat the same subject several times and is really if not already starting to destroy my reputation. My Teachers and Head Teachers are really supportive thankfully.

I was wondering what I should do One part of me is scared to chance psychiatrist (which my College Psychologist says I should continue with as I have a "History with my psychiatrist" Another part of me say I need to change and then another part of me says my try get my medications and disorders into control in hospital as I feel I have no control over my emotions at the moment due to family and study issues.

My old Psychologist at an old campus has told me that she is concerned about me being under my current psychiatrists care. My caseworker has been to an appointment and has said has also has concerns about me being under my current psychiatrists care.

Sorry that it was long

Thank you for any Advice

History is nice and all, but if you can't open up and can't get him to coordinate with the rest of the team, it may not be worth it. You could, in the meantime, begin meeting with other psychiatrists and telling them what you're looking for, and also seeing if you feel more comfortable with them. It's important that you find someone you can open up to and feel comfortable with, because your psychiatrist uses that information to tinker with your brain chemistry.

You should also try bringing this up with your current psychiatrist to see what he says. If he brushes you off, well, more evidence that you need to find a replacement (but stick with him until you've ACTUALLY got someone to transition to). If not, maybe something good will come out of it.

I believe you need to change psychiatrist, I went through the same thing you are going through, and am still seeing one,i finally got a good one who listens to me and my problems, she put me on the right medications, and so far they seem to be working, instead of a male, go to a female, they understand you and most of the time they get you the right help you need, refer you to other docters, a special ed program, my son went through what you are going through too, he was failing all his subjects, after being an A&B student, i never gave up on him he was in and out of hospitals, on different medications, was seeing a quack that would load him down on medications that wasn't even for what he had, he finally got sent to a school for all boys got a new counselor, social worker and got better enough where he got out and went into a school for the emotional handicapped teens, graduated with a B* average, mhe went to anger management classes afterwards, now he will be 23yrs old has a girlfriend and a 2yr healthy son, all he needed was the one on one help and the right teachers who cared, try this and let me know what happens...

I too think you need to find a new psychiatrist...but as Edahn said, you need to stick with them (the old one) until you get the new one...also, ask the present one about being able to let you sign an informed consent for the other mental health professionals, which will enable them all to share information.

Best,

Clyde
