my life has gone down hill from the beginning of the year..iv dealt with a heartbreak that basically caused my depression. My grades have dropped very low and my relationship with my mom isnt very good. We fight constantly over little things. She points out certain stuff that she doesnt like on me all the time and will make me change it or get hit.On top of this my freinds always come to me with there problems and expect me to fix them and if i dont they get mad at me and wont talk.im starting to not sleep and have nightmares that keep me up all night...so when i go to school im always exhausted and falling asleep in class.also im trying to handle the death of my friend.he died of a brain tumor about 4days ago.

I'm so sorry you lost your friend - this must be so hard. Was this a person from your school? If it is, usually the school offers grief counselling. It's wrong for your mother to hit you - I think you need to speak with your school counsellor or principal about this. Were you depressed before this or is it just that circumstances are overwhelming right now? Tell your friends that you're having a hard time and they need to ease back a little. You really do need to talk about how you're feeling and the problems going on at home. For now you might find it helpful writing down your feelings in a journal. This might help you sleep better. Take care of yourself with healthy eating, exercise and keeping regular sleep hours. Remember your mom shouldn't hit you no matter what. I hope things get better for you. Bella

thanks it means alot to have a little help and no he was my friends brother but we were really close
I agree with Bella that you need to talk to your school counselor about all this, or if you feel more comfortable, tell your dad.
I am so sorry that your friend died. that is hard to handle. I hope the school will provide grief counselors to help you
I am very sorry to hear about your friend. Grief is horrible and the time to "get over" grief is different for each person.
You could also go to the grief forum on psych central and post there for help.
I would recommend talking to your school counselor and explaining to them how you feel.
I really hope that this helps you.
Best,
Clyde
