this isn't something i usually do and i have to admit i'm quite nervous. I acutally think i've been depressed for a long time now, i just never talk to anyone about it. If not depression, then servere mood swings. It mainly revolves around grades. It's gotten down to the point that whenever i get a bad grade, that i consider suicide instead of telling my parents. They have really high hopes for me- my parents- and i always feel like i let them down. sometimes i punish myself by eating severely less that day. when i was younger i scratched my arms until they bleed as punishment, but i gave up because my parents always found out and yelled at me cause of it. I've also got horrible self-esteem and i feel like i can't relate to anyone. i'm so scared about the future, and i've seriously thought of ending it a couple of times. please help me. i don't want to be like this anymore.

I feel you.
I feel almost the same way, because im in depression too.
But not over grades. If you want to realy impress them, then GO for the good grades. If you get a D or an F, then just say to yourself "I can get better, i know i can!" instead of saying your a failure!
Also, plan ahead. Find out what your going to do. I have. Whatever YOU want to be, you can tell your parents and they can help you and be EXTREMLY proud. =]

Hi Cherri,
It sounds to me like there are too many unrealistic expectations on you and your having difficulty coping with this. I think anyone would.
are you in high school, if you are then I suggest you seek out the school counselor. If your at university then access the university counselor.
It's good that you've decided that you don't like feeling this way anymore. The next step is to find a professional to help you.
Start at school, conversations with the counselor are confidential unless your seriously have a plan to hurt yourself or someone else. Then they have let someone know about this.
If your not sure of how to talk to the counselor then you can print out what you wrote here and take it to them.
Here is a website called reachout, its for people in the same situation as you. It's an australian website, but stuff on there is relevant to you and you can find a lot of helpful cool stuff. Check it out.

I do not think it is as much a depression as it is unrealistic expectations (as was said) by your parents.
Not that you shouldnt get good grades, because you should, but you are considering suicide and are having low self-esteem, which shows your parents are pushing you too much.
Talk to your school counselor and let them know how you feel.

I think you should try and talk to a counselor about these things that you are going through. I know it will be hard and that it will be tough at first to talk to someone about your problems but I think it would be best for you in your situation. Then you can have someone to talk to about the things with your parents, low self esteem, and all the other things that are on your mind. Hope this helps.
