I'm in my early teen years, and i'm seriously depressed. I used to have real friends, but i lost them in all the drama happening in school. I feel like i have no friends, and i hate going out, because im always left out and my "friends" make fun of me and say their "kidding" but sometimes it really hurts, and when i get home i cry. A lot. Sometimes i find myself staring into blank spaces for up to 30 minuets, just thinking. I even think about hurting myself, but i never bring myself to it. I told my mom i've been really depressed, but she said I'm okay and I shouldnt worry about it. But I think if something doesnt happen soon, I'll be stuck in depression. Is it too early to be so depressed, and is it normal for me to feel this way?

Hi,
I'm sorry you're feeling sad and having a hard time. No you're not too young to suffer from depression - depression knows no age really. I know it's rough being a teenager an sometimes people can been mean and friends come and go easily. When your friends make fun of you and they say they're kidding, you should say "well it's not funny if I'm not laughing". Try not to get sucked into the drama that happens at school and instead hang around nice kids.
When you spoke to your mom, perhaps she thought that this is just a simple case of mood swings. Make sure you eat healthy and exercise regularly. try not to spend too much time on the computer or playing video games. If after a month you don't improve, then sit your mom down and tell her you need to see a doctor. Please know that it's never right to ever contemplate hurting yourself. It's confusing being a teenager sometimes, but it's also a great time in your life. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs Bella

Sounds like something maing you depressed, I was 12 when I first experienced my first episode of true depression (or 11, I know it was 11 or 12). So no your not too young. I think what your situation is- your friends. Junior high is sucky, and this is gonna happen. In high school they'll get over it. Tell them that IS NOT JOKING (what they're doing) and that, they'd better stop and you dont wanna hear it again.

It can. Can you talk to the friends and let them know how you are feeling now? Things could be different.
Let them know that them bothering you is bothering you, and if they want to be your friend, they will stop.
