well monday im going to speak to my school counselor about the things that have been going on.
I have been having suicidal thoughts for awhile and i have harmed myself. what will happen i mention that to the counselor. what do i expect from the sessions?
will they send me away to a hospital or what? im really freaked out about it. any advice?
A counselor, though maybe not the school counselor but a therapist can help you determine what is driving your suicidal thoughts and why you feel depressed. You may also need to seek medical doctor's help because sometimes it is a medical reason why you feel depressed or a side effect of a medication or supplement. Usually the only time they hospitalize you is if they think you are going to actively kill yourself or someone else but usually you do not get hospitalized for harming yourself particularly if it has been a while and nothing is fresh. Be honest though so they can help you and try not to be scared. Usually they are very nice. All my best. Junie

They will be there to help you, and will not be judgmental. The only times they usually hospitalize you is if you are judged a harm to yourself or others, and your school counselor probably won't be the one who would make that statement.

They will help you figure out what is giving you the urges to hurt yourself. They will help you find other ways of releasing stress, and to help you make a plan for your safety. The plan might be that you agree to call that person if you feel suicidal again, so you have a chance to talk it out and figure out some other way to get through the next hour or the next night, and to make an appointment to meet with them very soon so they can stabilize your thoughts. A lot of times, just knowing that someone knows how badly you feel and that they are willing to help you will be enough to take the edge off of your pain. If you don't feel comfortable with the first person you talk with, try someone else - and keep trying until you find someone who has a good style of relating to you. Awhile from now, you will hopefully feel so good that it will be hard to realize you used to have these thoughts or habits.

that is good that you are going to speak to the counselor. they may suggest a psychiatric evaluation and therapy.
just be honest and let the counselor know what has gone before that resulted in your self injury behavior and suicidal feelings.
they are there to help you!
hope all goes well and that this step will lead you onto the path to healing
and if i dont what the cause is for my depressive feelings and suicidal thoughts, what then?
