I have been making great social connections at school, and have been doing really great on meds, but lately i've begun to resent school again. Also i got a new english teacher, whom hates my guts. She tires me out and her lectures are relentless. I've been sleeping as soon as i get home and just becoming extremely tired. I resent going to school. I've become friends with some interesting characters and enjoy spending time with them, but i really hate school. I'm not as depressed as last year, but i am starting to feel a little down. I was really sick with mono at the beginning of the year and it really put an impact on the way the year started. Can someone offer me some advice on how to stay happy and calm? Thanks everyone!

mono can have very long lasting effects and the exhaustion you feel may well be related to that.
do you think maybe your doc needs to tweak your meds? sometimes just a change of dose or type of med can even things out more
have you spoken with your guidance counselor or your mom about the new English teacher? If she is singling you out for unpleasantness in class then that needs to be addressed.
what grade are you in?
sure hope you begin to feel better about school...I guess there is no magic wand to make it go away huh ;) but for as long as you have to be there, it would be good to at least have it bearable. I am not sure about your state, but here in Florida they now offer virtual school as an option where students can work from home at their own pace under the guidance of certified teachers
btw do you have a 504 plan for school? If not you should maybe ask your parents and guidance counselor about that. It is designed to allow students with physical or mental health disorders to have special accommodations at school to help them cope better.
hope that helps a bit

Hi BPG,
I think Chemar gave you excellent advice. I agree Mono can really make you feel tired and affects your ability to handle stress. It's also the beginning of the school year. Are you still recieving extra help in school because of your medical condition?? I also agree with Chemar about the english teacher. Is she singling you out or is she like that to everyone? Unfortunately there are good and not so good teachers. Speak to your mom about whether her actions require your mom's help.
Make sure you're eating extra healthy right now so you can get better. I remember not liking school as a child but school wasn't nearly as good when I was a child. I wish I would have enjoyed myself more instead of hating it. Since you know you have to be in school, you must do everything possible to make the best out of it. You're at a very important age where schools lose touch with students entering their teen years. In order to survive in the world today - you need a good education which will give you independance later in life. So,I'm trying to tell you to, deal with things the best you can. If the teachers not getting personal with just you, then let it go and try to stay focused. Since you're just recovering from Mono it's important not to get stressed out. I hope you feel better soon. :) Bella

I think both ladies gave good advice. You may need to go the doctor and get it checked out.

Talk to your Mum, and see what is going on there.
Best,
