I am seeing a female Psychologist for depression (I am male)on my 5th session I was explaining to her the culture (or lack of) of the place I work and used several cuss words that are used as everyday language by men and women, she told me to keep a lid on it and not use offensive language. WTF are we all not adults, should I tell her she needs to work on that issue or should I be seeing a male Psychologist? robert
I wouldn't imagine that telling her she needs to work on an issue would work.
Sometimes therapists and clients just don't click. Perhaps you should consider using another one. Therapy should be able making progress, not censoring mild profanity.

i think you should find another therapist - that you can express your self - and every way you feel - there are tons of therapist out there - don't go to one if you can't be yourself - who needs regulating when you are just trying to express yourself - F@#% that....lol - sorry but i think that's really lame that she did that- and i am a female - if you live in los angeles i have a referral to a woman i am doing a website for who is a really cool lady - works with all kinds of people- she is non- judgmental - you can check her out at http://www.kimberlywick.com - and if you aren't in Los Angeles - you can always go to psychologytoday directory - http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/ - they have tons of psychologists/therapists listed in a directory and you can see their pictures - which i think is good so you can see if they look like quacks -
good luck

I dont see anything wrong with her not liking the cussing, however, I do think she shouldnt be so belligerent about it. Sometimes it probably does just come out.
What the others said is true, sometimes therapists and clients dont click entirely.

See someone you can relate to and will just listen to you.
