I want to know if there is someone out there that
can sponsor someone trying to quit drinking and
help them work the steps and support them.
The AA meeting in my area is to triggering
for me to attend. Even traveling up to an hour
away isnt helpful. I'd just like some help, but
from what i'm being told the only way is through
AA. I went online to two differnet sites and didnt
find help there either. I'm doing this all on my
own right now. And if i have to, i guess thats
what i'll continue to do.

I'm sorry I'm not that familiar with AA, but I do think that once you "join" AA you gain a sponsor who will help you with your issues. I'm unsure as to why you haven't found a sponsor, and hope that someone can give you a reply to help you in that way.
In the meantime, try and do what you know is best for you, in the way of self care. Realize that there are many ppl who care about you now, even though strangers to you. TC

I also go to AA meetings and have 2 years Sober and clean I went to NA for a while but my drug of choice was Booze and I will pick that up before drugs I have not done any street drugs in 20 years, As far as your sponsor issue I don't have a sponsor I have issues with confiding in a male I was Raped by 3 men and assaulted by my male roommate last year I have female roommate now and no male friends Thats just me I mainly use my Case Manager for a sponsor and they want me to use a male sponsor. So you can use your own judgment to pick the sponsor who works best for you maybe someone who has Bi polar disorder. Or someone who will not be judgmental which I found to be my problem there when I told them I also had brain tumor surgery too. And they knew I was in a MISA VA group for people with Mental illness and substance abuse issues

Talk to your doctor about a GREAT drug called Naltrexone.
It alters the mood centers in the brain, and stops the alcohol cravings. No other side effects. Worked for me, a heavy drinker for 20 years.AA was o.k. but time consuming , travel etc. Maybe you can combine both.
Good luck on the journey....Terry

Could you call your location and let them know your situation? Perhaps they could give you an Internet sponsor (or one that you could call and email)?
