I dream quite frequently. I always remember my dreams vividly. My dreams are so realistic, that I wake and anticipate; even though I know I am dreaming, that it's somehow real. I sometimes have to question people about events. Example=Did she leave her new job to return back to her old job? et....

Yes, it is possible, not always typical to manipulate our dreams. Lots of times, though, we dont realize we are having the dream, so we just "let things go as they are," and stuff happens the way it would in the dream.
If we do know that we are having a dream, it makes it a lot easier to change it.

Bronxdreamer, it can be a good thing to learn to manipulate your dreams. It's called lucid dreaming, and it quite useful when you begin to have a bad dream because you can stop in the dream and make it a good dream. :)
You sound like visual person in life, and thus have difficulty differentiating between what you dreamed and what you didn't. Keeping a dream journal might help, writing down hints to what was in the dreams the night before, as a reference.
