My best friend has resently been talking to me that he relised he has some symtoms of split personalites, being young (we are teens) we both of course made a joke of it at first of how that would explain alot. But he started going into detail about how he has been forgetting big chunks, and sometimes wakes up with scratchs all over, once a huge gash (blood all over bedsheets), with no memory of the night before. He has never gotten a "hang over" but one morning he woke up with one. People have told him things he's said to them (important things) that he doesn't recall saying at all. He also at some points during the school day will suddenly have angry outbursts (more annoyed rather), which we both think are un explainable, but it also is quite rare that he gets actually angry. We are hoping he isnt just beinging to delvop this, but it doesnt hurt to check. He does have a very stressful life at home, and websites said that this could cause it. He also does drink but never gets hangovers, if that explains why I encluded that. He also feels the need to kill I guess you could say, because he hunts, I dont know if thats any helpful information? Personally I'm worried about him and am hoping it isnt so.

Is your boyfriend drinking before he loses his memory?

Forgetting chunks of time can happen to people who drink, and it doesn't have to be a whole lot. I have blacked-out on as little as 3 beers, but I was a regular drinker at the time.

For the first few years I drank, I did not get hangovers, even after bouts of excessive drunkenness. I did have frequent blackouts, however. I have awoken the next morning to find I am seriously injured, have driven myself home, etc, and have no memory of it whatsoever. These types of events are the definition of a drinking problem.

Well, he do not drink frequently, so i dont think it is that. He doesnt drink before these chunks are gone. I'm just his very concerend friend, and I'm kind of hoping it's due to drinking, but he really doesnt enough to have an effect like that.

Could you see if he could talk to a therapist/school counselor about what is going on? That is very vital and a first step to getting help.

It could definitely just be due to drinking. Does it seem to only happen when drinking is involved?

Best,

Clyde
