I have a close friend who's moved down here and is very shy. At 27 she should have outgrown her shyness a long time ago (I was very shy around girls when I was in my early teens). I don't see her very often, but would like to know what I should say or do to help bring her out of it. I'm afraid if I appear too "pushy", I might drive her away.

Hi Dale,
You are very kind to think of her. Probably the best thing you can do is let it happen slowly. If she is shy, do things that only she will like, but add a little "new" stuff to it at the time, for instance, if she is only comfortable with you, introduce a new friend to her.
Don't rush her, yet let her know you would like to do fun new things, and see if she can come around.
Best,
Clyde
