I have been rebonding and perming my hair about once - twice each year and my hair had fallen for years but in very small amounts. Recently I had permed my hair then gotten it straightened out only two weeks after and my hair has been falling out of my scalp quite massively. Like , when I put my fingers through my hair to comb it into place , at least about 10+ hair strands would fall out. And when i walk , without fiddling with my hair , my hair strands just fall out onto my shirt. What more when I wash my hair! About 5-6 strands would come out together along with separated strands. I'm afraid I'd get bald! I am only 18 and I dont have enough money to spend on hair treatments at saloons for it is very costy! I need some home remedies to stop my hair fall quick!

The first thing I suggest you do is ask for a blood test to screen for your thyroid - this can cause hair loss. So can a bad diet and hormonal changes. But I suspect your hair loss is due to over processing your hair -stay away from the hair bonding and perms. It is normal to loose hair every day and while showering. Also its normal to have a little more hair loss with the seasons. It's best to use the gentle approach with your hair, eat well and visit your doctor to rule out medical reasons. Best of luck, Bella

Oh my , shall do that! Thanks Bella :)
And I had an abortion about a month back. I was 11 weeks pregnant at the time. Could this be the cause? My period's are regular , could not be hormonal changes , or could it?

Estrella it is very possible that a combination of all the chemicals/processing of your hair plus the hormonal stuff related to the TOP could be causing this
I do agree with Bella that when hair falls out in excess, it is a good idea to have a thyroid check up as well

Yes I agree with Chemar, this could be hormonal effects. To be safe have some blood tests done. Make sure you're eating well and be gentle with the processing(perms etc)

I do have a low bp. 56/90. Could this be the cause of it? I would consider getting my mum to get me a blood test for thyroid .

Hello,
It is normal for some hair to fall out but if you are losing more than 10 strands a day you should see a doctor for tests.
When you perm your hair you are adding strong chemicals that can damage hair. The straighting process will burn your hair causing it to fall out. If it is not caused from low thyroid or hormonal problems try taking Zinc. I have found taking a Zinc mineral can help with the hair. Zinc can be bought over the counter at any drug store. I also had hair that was falling out. I think it was related to stress. Emotional stress of any kind can cause all types of strange symptoms. When I began taking the Zinc-I noticed a difference within a month. I am not a medical person-it is from my own experience. If you are on certain antibiotics-then Zinc is not allowed. Have you tried hot oil treatments? Are you on any medications? Take care and let me know what you learn. Cathy

I have heard of people using oil such as almond and castor oil. However almond oil is very pricey. Besides that , there's this hair oil I had bought called HIMALAYA which contains Fenugreek and Indian Gooseberry which is said to be very good to stopping hair fall and increases your hair volume. I have been doing the OLIVE OIL + EGG YOLK treatment for my hair 30 mins before I was my hair. And then use this himalaya revitalizing hair oil once my hair is dried out.
I hope the results would be much better. I do have a very low blood pressure, and have been under quite an amount of stress.
