For Halloween this year my friend is hosting a small party that I have agreed to attend. This is a major event for her and I want to be there to support her. She does not usually open up her home due to paranoia and panic attacks on her part, so the fact that she is doing this is a huge step for her, and I want to be there to keep her calm and to help her out with anything she may need.

For Halloween this year another group of friends of mine are planning on trying the drug acid (LSD) for the first time. They have done lots of research on this drug and are planning on having at least one person in attendance who will be sober to be a "safety" person. I do not know the person(s) who will be the safety. I have 5+ years in the medical field and am a nursing student. I do not necessarily trust these other people, partly because I do not know if they are qualified to handle the situation if things get out of control. I have also been invited to this event as a safety, and feel that I would be more qualified to be a safety than these other people whom I don't know.

Where should I go?

I think you should take the 1st option of supporting your friend who's having the small party. I don't mean to sound like a typical parent - but taking acid is a huge mistake!! We've have several questions involving people having very bad and unpredictable problems after taking acid(halluncinations long after and paranoia). It doesn't matter how much research they've done - there's no guarantee of the outcome. I would hate to see one of you with permanent psychological problems from doing acid. Have a safe Halloween,

I absolutely agree with Bella...go to #1 and support your friend having the small party.

and be a friend to those considering trying acid and tell them of the many people for whom just one "trip" sent them over the edge and left permanent mental issues! No research can ever predict what an individual's reaction will be to a powerful mind altering substance like LSD. I sadly know people for whom a "one time" try has left a lifetime scar!

I really hope they will reconsider, and that you will stay far away from that party!
