I just found out with the appointment with the surgon, that my anxiety and depression, may be coming from my epelepsy. I also found out that I may not be a canidate for the surgery, because my seizures are wide spread through out the left side of my brain. They also affect the part of my brain that controls body movement. If I do the surgery, I will be paralized on one side of my body. What the surgon and I decided to do was to go on with testing. Then the results go infront of a panal of other neuro-surgons, and if they agree that I can go for the surgery, then they will go on with more major testing. My question is, what can I do if my depressiona dn anxiety is coming from my epelepsy? Because my memory is getting bad, and I would like to use that as a excuse to get back into photography, but I don't have the energy. Or do I really have a mental disorder?

Hi
as there are so many issues it really is hard for us to say just what is related to the epilepsy and what isnt...I would think that your doctor probably knows best on this and so if he feels the anxiety and depression are being triggered by the epilepsy that is probably the reason.
Hopefully he will be able to recommend medications that will help the seizures as well as the depression and anxiety.
hoping that they manage to decide quickly on the best treatment to help you

I totally agree with you. And that is what we are going to do. Epelepsy is not fun to deal with. But I am not going to quit fighting with it. Thank you for you comments and support.

I agree - it is hard to tell where the depression and anxiety is coming from. It's also good they're going to do more testing - sounds like you're in good hands. You can still get into some meditation or relaxing methods like deep breathing. The trick with anxiety is your body also reacts to the anxiety and then you become more stressed. When you start to feel stressed you can offset it with relaxation techniques.
You have a good attitude in not wanting to give up - that's half the battle right there. All the best, Bella :)

I think the doctor would be the best person to ask about all of this. But, I definitely would also see if I could find a therapeutic way to treat anxiety and depression too.
