Hi
I have experience with 5HTP as both my husband and son have used it for OCD/depression
It really helped bring my son's OCD under control and did help his depression too
this was a few years ago and he stopped taking it after a while. Later, when he felt he needed to stabilize again, he tried it but that tie it left him feeling edgy and spaced out. He tried the regular L-tryptophan and that was much better.
He has also found samE (or methinine) and especially INositol very helpful
My husband hated the effect 5HTP had on him and instead took st John's wort, which he much preferred. My son diod not like the SJW at all
soooo
it really depends on the individual
5HTP is safe as long as it is taken at correct dose (my son found anything over 50mg each night was too much) and also most importantly that it should never ever be taken with any medication that elevates serotonin (eg SSRI antidepressants) nor should it be combined with the other serotonin boosting supplements that I mentioned above as that can cause serotonin spiking, which can be very dangerous
I dont know anything re 5HTP and migraines but have heard the the herb butterbur is supposed to have very good effect on reducing migranes

I have not tried it myself. I have heard that it is good, but that is about it.
