I have tried Zoloft and Lexapro and they both made me feel horid. I'm experiencing post partum and I have no clue what would help as far as a med that wont give me those nasty feeling off dread, severe anx,and iritablilty with those creepy crawly feeling being your neck and arms.I allready have those feelings as they are and dont need them any stronger. I was on lexapro along time ago and It worked fine so why does it make me feel like this now. What kind of anti dep would you prefer? Snri, tricyclic,"naSSa"? And what are the differences? what kind is different than the ssri and would be a greater help? Is it just the ssri meds that my body can't take ( thats what i'm guessing)?I really need help. I have post partum to the degree that it's hard to even be a mother let alone a wife. I feel miserable. Please Help. Thanks.
OK. I'm guessing you've got a doctor you're going to go to, but you want some ideas to take to him/her. There are certain things to consider after problems with antid:
Q1: RU depressed? -- I'll take it for granted you are.
Q2: Do you need/want pills? -- I'll take it for granted you do. But therapy will still be helpful, as will regular meals and regular light exercise. Generally, be kind to yourself (as kind as you would be to a friend in your position), and let other people know that you are struggling (and getting help) so that they can be kind to you too.
Q3: RU breastfeeding? -- Some drugs are excreted in breast milk and can give your baby side-effects and withdrawal symptoms. I'll assume not for now.
Q4: How long were you able to take Zoloft/Lexapro for? -- Side-effects usually fade after a while. If you could bear to stick with one of them a little longer, the bad things might got less, and the good things get better (esp Lexapro as it has helped before). All antidepressants have side-effects, but may be more likley at the moment because of hormonal or fluid balance reasons.
Q5: Do you need something to help with sleep? -- If so, the best thing to try after ruling out SSRIs is Mirtazapine (NaSSRI). On the starting dose, it will make your sleep much much better. It will also give you an appetite. If you're already sleeping well, maybe you'd benefit from something a bit more neutral like Lofepramine (TCA) (this will make you constipated). Duloxetine (NaSSRI) might make you sleep and eat less if this is a problem.
I wouldn't recommend Venlefaxine (NaSSRI) or Reboxetine (SNRI) if anxiety and tingling in your arms, as they might make it worse.

I honestly would recommend discussing this one with a qualified professional, especially like a psychotherapist or psychiatrist.

I hope that's given you some ideas. Good luck.
