We have had some jobs done by others. Our house was built in 1903 and we want to retain the original charm. My husband has been milling his own trim work and I do the staining.
He did a lot of work two years ago but not since then. He became involved with an organization that kept him very busy. He quit the organization this year.
Our kitchen is also undone. He built the box parts of the cabinets but they have no drawers, doors and only one shelf in them.
I think he has some kind of mental block. I can't figure it out. I am tired of making excuses to family and friends.
It would cause a great deal of money to have the work done by others especially as we have spent so much on the materials. This has happened in the past where the people who do the work buy their own materials and we end up paying twice for materials as well as the labor.
I have done a huge amount of dirty tiresome work here as we gutted the whole house. I have done more than my share.
I'd like to find some way to get through to him. I need to do something different but what?

Have you talked to him about it? I mean, a sit down discussion where you say, "Honey, I believe you are not doing your bit of the work that you promised to do..." and go from there.
It could be very well he is depressed also. If that is the case, you may want him to visit a therapist or a family doctor in order to better diagnose him.
