I agree with Edahn. Your mind will continually work on problems you encounter, even when you are not directly considering them. Thus, if you encounter a problem with no direct answer (ie: the life changing event of a break-up) your mind will continue to work on it. This process can continue into sleep, and when your brain enters the R.E.M. state of the sleep cycle, these thoughts may be interpreted and remembered as dreams. But, do not confuse this with an "omen" or as "obsession". Your mind is simply trying to work out this problem. When you have resolved it, the dreams will stop.
