i have read in an article that mushrooms have the potential to greatly (permanently) alter your brain chemistry (not for the better) and have been linked to various severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia. after reading that i have become increasingly concerned that i have Schizophrenia, since this all began with me taking mushrooms and having a "bad trip" although i had done them before(i have not done them since, but have been somewhat of a frequent marijuana smoker before and after my episode). Many of my symptoms are those of a person suffering from Schizophrenia. i think i need to get help but do not know how to seek help or how to bring up this subject to my family. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I do sympathize and empathize with you, but you do just have to go seek the treatment. You have to just come out and tell your family.
Perhaps telling someone in your family or friends that you are close to first, and ask them how to best explain it? But if you are having serious issues such as you mentioned, you need to tell them soon and not worry so much about the etiquette...
The best way I can think of is to set your parents (or whomever you are telling) down without any distractions, such as television, radio, phone--and then just come out and mention that you have been having some mental/medical issues and you have been taking shrooms and you want to get help because you are very worried about what is going on.
Of course, they will be ticked, expect that, but you cannot let it go any longer. The longer you let it go, the more of a chance you risk hurting yourself and end up being super addicted and being a worse risk to yourself.
PLEASE seek help immediately and PLEASE talk to your family ASAP about it.
If, you dont feel safe about doing this with your parents or family, walk in to an ER and tell them what you have told us. They will check you out and help you as well--this is probably a place you would/will go anyway after you told your parents...so...best of luck, and I will be thinking of you.

I agree with Clyde. Do you have someone to confide in, with these thoughts? Don't do the "self diagnosing" as that rarely helps, and is not all that accurate, either.
Get some help IRL, ok?

Hey, emerica. I have the exact same problem, except that i'm only 12! I suggest talking to your parents if they seem like they would understand. If not, talk to a friend or a doctor. maybe you could do to a therapist one day without your parents knowing.
