Well, first off, I need to mention I am only 15 years old. And ever since I was young, I've been battling problems with a druggie mom, me doing drugs myself, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, and many other traumatic issues. Well, I've noticed recently, that I had a couple signs of schizophrenia. I researched it, and didn't think it was even possible for me because I'm so young, and it's less common in girls. But, for years now, I've been having conversations with these two, sometimes three other voices in my head. Everytime I try to do or think of something, one of them comes up and tells me I can't think that. i can't even believe in God because the main voice tells me he's not real. But I want to beleive he is. And also, I hear things. A lot. Like earlier tonight, I heard a lawnmower. And it's 4 in the morning. And almost winter. And I can't walk into dark rooms for fear of somebody killing me. And, Also, I've had thought's of there being some other reality other than our own. Like, not heaven or hell, but some other world. And people, or things watch us from that world only taking people who they think are to powerful for this world. I also believe if I try hard enough, i can read minds. And I have these, psychotic thoughts where many voices are screaming in my head. Just yelling at me. For nothing. Some voices I recognize. Others I don't. But they keep screaming and screaming and it gets louder. And it hurts. And I just want to scream myself to let them all out. The reason I have said all of this, is because I need to make sure schizophrenia is what I have, I don't want to mention it, and then it be something else. But is there anyone out there who knows if it could be something else??

Hello

so sorry to hear you are suffering this way

honestly, it would be best to get a referral to a psychiatrist for a qualified diagnosis

Do you have family members with schizophrenia or any other mental health problems? Your mom's drug abuse suggests she may have probs?? and the drugs can do it to you too

If you are using a lot of cannabis, it is possible that may be causing this as some people appear to have schizo episodes from using it

I dont know much about schizophrenia, but I do know that intense OCD can also result in thinking you hear voices and other fears and phobias, and even delusions. An deficiency in a neurotransmitter called serotonin is often the cause of that. Once the serotonin levels are correctly adjusted by either medications or certain nutritional supplements, things may stabilize.

Also, even prescription medications can cause very strange reactions! I dont know if you take any meds, but as an example, I know of someone who was taking Tagamet for heartburn and started having semi halucinatory episodes that were very scary for them! hearing voices and even seeing "visions" etc....as soon as the doctor took them off the tagamet, it stopped!!

Hopefully Bella or one of our other answerers will have more info for you soon as well, but in the meantime I do hope you will consider asking your mom or another family member to make an appointment with your doctor and then hopefully he will refer you for expert diagnosis

wishing you wellness

I agree with Chemar - you need to be properly assessed by a doctor. You can't diagnose yourself based on information you find on the internet. I agree that OCD could manifest itself with obsessive thoughts.

I feel very concerned about the unhealthy atmosphere you're living in. No one should be doing illegal drugs!! Please speak with a counsellor at your school and ask for help regarding your home situation. Like Chemar said drugs can induce psychosis so please don't take them anymore. Sometimes if you get too worked up the thoughts will intensify. The first priority is to see a doctor ASAP but in the meantime try not to get worried about the thoughts. You've been through alot and you need to be in a safe environment and receive counselling. I think you will feel better when this happens. Best of luck, Bella

I would recommend seeing a doctor or therapist as soon as possible too.

Can you talk to your school counselor and let them know how you are feeling/what you are experiencing?

Best,

Clyde

Yes, do see your doctor ASAP. As others have mentioned, very severe OCD is sometimes hard to distinguish from psychosis. Your symptoms are not necessarily indictitive of schizophrenia, so see a health care provider soon.
