I have had dreams lately which are like nightmares, but I wouldn't call them that. They are not entirely enough to make me horrified in the dream, but they do scare me a lot in the dream. Like last night, for example, I dreamt that I was in an old house with my family, trying to escape from ghosts and demons. We would get away from them (not seeing them really, just seeing after-effects of them being there), but then more would come up. The dreams are all kind of in that vein, scary, yet not super intensive.
I do not lose sleep or anything from them, except for the few seconds/minutes waking up from them. Does anyone else have dreams like these as an adult, and does anyone have any idea what these could mean? ;)

I have the same kind of dreams, but I'm only a teen. My older friend told me that it may mean that there's something bothering you in your mind that you don't think about while you're awake, so it surfaces while you are asleep. Why don't you contact a doctor, see what they say?
Best of luck,

Thanks Leanne!
I do think there is something bothering me as well--but nothing super serious...course, I have such a vivid and creative mind sometimes, it could just being upset over not having mustard for my hot dog ;)

Dreams where you are being chased or pursued are often indicative of having, or feeling like you have things or people IRL that continue to hound you. Since your family is there (in this one) perhaps it is something from family issues, even of ones of when you were younger. You might not have known what they really were then, so your brain can't give you specifics in your dreams now. The old house might represent this, that they are things from long ago.
Are there issues arising now that might be linked to then? Before going to sleep, tell yourself you want to know what this dream means, or what the spirits represent. If you wake slightly, try to begin to teach yourself lucid dreaming, and not allow yourself to wake fully up, but tell yourself that is a bad feeling dream and you want to change it, then go back to sleep and see if that helps. Thanks Sky. I usually am able to control my dreams if needed...they are just weird. They arent much to do with my family having problems, but the family is included in them...odd...
