My mother told me about two months ago that she has manic depression disorder and I just let it go. I thought to myself "I'm all alone in my CRAZY mood swings and my depression and I'll look it up later." But, lately, I've been having these literal "tantrums". I get sad to mad in an hour period, and I have been taking it out on my family and boyfriend. He finally reminded me today to look up what "Manic depression disorder" is and I did. It's another way to say "Bipolar disorder", from what I gathered.. I'm terrified. I guess I should go and get evaluated from my regular doctor, and get prepa Read More »

I'm fifteen years old and I genuinely think that I may have Bipolar Disorder. I have been thinking about this for some time and nearly all my close friends have mentioned that they think I have it. I try to talk to my mum about it but she believes that I'm just having normal teenage moodswings, but I really feel that it is more. I've really researched it online and have done all the tests online and I know that they aren't a proper diagnosis but they all said that it's a high possibility that I have it. I can't sleep, I'm not eating right. Sometimes i get so unconfident and so sad and I recen Read More »

After reading most replies about relationships and bipolar, I've noticed that my story is similiar to those of others'. A few weeks ago, I betrayed my boyfriend's trust by gossiping to my friend about something he told me. We made up the next week but unexpectantly he decided we need a month break. The next day he asked if I wanted to come over to him. I told him I was hurt by his decision to go on a break. And immediately he said we must break up and that he doesn't think our relationship will last. After many hours chatting online, I convinced him that we should rather just take Read More »

My 14 year old son was diagnosed as Bipolar about three years ago. He has been hospitalized three times. We are working with a psychiatrist with a strong reputation. Each time we add a bit more medication, it seems that we are going in the right direction and the depression or hypomania gets tamped down. Of course, I am concerned in general about giving anyone so much medication, but what keeps happening is that the psychologists we encounter, either through hospitalizations or the school programs,continue to be shocked by the level of medications my son is taking. It does seem that my so Read More »
I am trying so very hard to correct all the mistakes I made during my 19 year marriage that were all caused by Bipolar Mania. I have been seperatted and living apart for 3 years. My last nervous breakdown was extremely severe and it took place july 2011. In August I made a choice and that was to face this head on, read anything I could about bipolar, healing, dedicate myself to therapy, dealing with every traumatic issue that occurred in my life. I have done nothing but study, and inform myself with knowledge on regaining control, changing what I broke, ammending my ways, etc. I have asked my Read More »
Well I'm 21 and was diagnosed as bipolar when I was 11. I don't think they were right though. This whole situation is kind of hard to describe for a number of reasons, but mostly because of my foggy memory.

The things I'm sure of;
1. I've always had extreme social problems.
2. I've always been prone to fits of extreme frustration and anger.
3. Everyone has always thought of me as pompous, even as a child.
4. Mental illness runs in the family.
5. I researched bipolar disorder before I ever set foot in a psychiatrists office.

The child psychiatrist I saw labeled me bipolar after Read More »
